POLICE ON THE SCENE AFTER VANDALS LEFT DEVASTATION IN 2009
Vandals struck at the club durinr the early hours of a Saturday morning causing hundreds of pounds of damage and loss whilst causing the cancellation of play for the foreseeable future.What goes through the twisted minds of the perpetrators when carrying out such acts. Three youths were arrested charged and found guilty of causing criminal damage BUT THE SENTANCE HANDED OUT WAS ONE YEAR COMMUNITY SERVICE - SO MUCH FOR JUSTICE - WHAT ABOUT THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF OUR MEMBERS TO ENJOY A YEAR OF BOWLING?.Geoff Chapman,Club Secretary received many messages of support from local clubs,all helping in every way.For this he sent grateful thanks on behalf of the club.Bowling started again in 2010.
THE LAST BOWL PLAYED
Jim Murray played the last bowl on the vandalised green prior to work starting on the first stage of relaying a complete new green.Chemical spraying followed Jim's last delivery.The next stage followed in two weeks when the old grass had completely died off.Seed was then sown and soon the new green was appearing.
Work goes on improving the green and surrounds as can be seen on a Wednesday morning.The roving camera caught some of the action,results of which can be seen in the Clubhouse.
