POLICE ON THE SCENE AFTER VANDALS LEFT DEVASTATION IN 2009

Picture
Vandals struck at the club durinr the early hours of a Saturday morning causing hundreds of pounds of damage and loss whilst causing the cancellation of play for the foreseeable future. What goes through the twisted minds of the perpetrators when carrying out such acts. Three youths were arrested and charged. All three found guilty of causing criminal damage BUT THE SENTANCE HANDED OUT WAS ONE YEAR COMMUNITY SERVICE - SO MUCH FOR JUSTICE - WHAT ABOUT THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF OUR MEMBERS TO ENJOY A YEAR OF BOWLING?.Geoff Chapman,Club Secretary, has received many messages of support from local clubs, all willing to help in the immediate future. For this he sends grateful thanks on behalf of the club.

THE LAST BOWL IS PLAYED

Picture
Jim Murray plays the last bowl on the vandalised green prior to work starting on the first stage of relaying a complete new green.Chemical spraying followed Jim's last delivery. The next stage will be in two weeks when the old grass has completely died off.News of progress will be posted.

The latest now after a week is that when entering the club gate the sight of a large brown square greets you.But work goes on as can be seen on a Wednesday morning. The roving camera caught some of the action, results of which can be seen in the Clubhouse.

These appear below showing the transforming of the clubhouse with a change of colour.
